Assessments
Assessment updates should be on a routine cycle across the whole State. Considering the fact this would be hard to do, then at least Municipalities within a County should all be on the same assessment process. Residents who live on the same road, but are in two different Towns, one is assessed at 100% full market, and the other hasn't re-assessed over 25 years. Where is the fairness in that process?? Assessment updates should be on a routine cycle across the whole State. Considering the fact this would be hard to do, then at least Municipalities within a County should all be on the same assessment process. Residents who live on the same road, but are in two different Towns, one is assessed at 100% full market, and the other hasn't re-assessed over 25 years. Where is the fairness in that process?? The current process leaves residents wodering if they are paying to much or not enough in taxes?? While everyone thinks they are paying to much in taxes, the reality is Municipalities that have gone long periods of time without re-assessing, then many residents are not paying their fair share, while others are paying more than their fair share. The assessment process can be more fair and easily understood with some minor changes, but lets start with getting a consistent re-assessment cycle in place.
